Carpet Cleaning FAQ

Find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions related to carpet cleaning in our Carpet Cleaning FAQ.

Before Cleaning

  • What do I need to do before the carpet cleaning?

Nothing. We will do what is required. There is no prepping required for our citruSolution cleaning system, it works in three easy steps and there is no prepping required on your side. If something were to come up, we would ask before we continue. We don’t want to break anything!

  • Will you move my furniture come carpet cleaning time?

Since it’s best that you handle your own property (after all, we’re professional cleaners, not movers), we ask that you take care of moving your furniture. Ideally, you will have a space available for items that’s not being cleaned, like your kitchen. Otherwise, since our process involves 3 steps, we’d be moving your furniture at least 4 different times. I’m sure you don’t want us there all day! That said, in the event that you need a hand, we are more than happy to help you move an item or two.

  • How often do I need to get my carpets cleaned?

The EPA recommends having your carpets cleaned once a year. Twice a year if you have pets or children. One reason is that carpet actually acts as an air filter in your home. As air is moving in your home, and it does move, the carpet fibers are trapping contaminants just like the air filter is doing. You replace your air filter every three months or more. How often do you have the biggest air filter in your home cleaned? Having your carpets maintained does more than improve their appearance, it promotes health. We can reduce the allergens in your carpet, and many times eliminate allergy problems for people.

  • Does the carpet cleaner preserve carpet colors?

Our carpet cleaner CitruSpotter is made from natural ingredients and contains no soap or shampoo. However, we recommend that you test your carpet for colorfastness. Shake the bottle of cleaner well. Pour small amount of cleaner on a spot, wait a few minutes, and rub with a white terrycloth towel. Repeat as necessary.

  • Is my carpet dirty?

YES! Consider your carpet only as clean as the last public restroom floor you walked on! Ask a carpet installer how much dirt he cleans up after he has taken out the old carpet and how much heavier the old carpet was. The additional weight is the soil that is migrating through the fiber and backing. Does carpet cleaning of ANY kind get out ALL the dirt? NO! But the CitruSolution process cleans the carpet fibers without forcing the soil beneath the backing and into the padding. CitruSolution stays within the nap of the carpet and leaves a citrus barrier between you and the soils, allergens and bacteria migrating through your carpet.

After Cleaning

  • How long will carpets remain clean?

Stays cleaner longer – leaves behind no sticky residue. It cleans and treats your carpet fiber without leaving behind a sticky residue that soaps and shampoos commonly do. This not only keeps your carpets clean longer, it also prevents those reoccuring spots that are so common with the extraction process using soaps and shampoos.

  • What do I need to do after carpet cleaning?

    Must do’s after carpet cleaning:

    • Be very careful stepping from wet carpet onto wooden stairs!!!

    • Be very careful when you step off wet carpet onto any hard surface, so you don’t slip!

  • Do you have any tips for dealing with Dust Mites?

Dust mite allergens can affect us all. They can be harmful to the young, old, infirm, and everyone in-between. Major universities, health organizations, and the EPA warn us against the harmful effects of exposure to dust mites, and their allergens. Dust mites have a significant role in many asthma cases, and are a factor in hay fever and various other allergic ailments. Most people in homes across America and the world share their environment with common house dust mites. They are microscopic Arachnids, and members of the same family as spiders and ticks.

Dust mites main diet consists of human skin that we all slough off naturally every day. Dust mites live in our carpets, clothes, furniture and bedding. Most homes have literally millions of these creatures, both alive and dead. So it’s not surprising that most household dust consists largely of human skin, living and dead dust mites, old dust mite skins, and dust mite feces. UGH!

What can we do about it? There are many steps we can all take to help eliminate dust mites, and make our homes healthier places to live.

    • Clean your carpets! CitruSolution is a natural anti-allergen. CitruSolution contains d-Limonene, a naturally occurring extract of citrus peels. d-Limonene has been proven to destroy Dust Mites and many other common allergens that cause respiratory distress.

    • VACUUM, VACUUM, VACUUM. We can’t stress this enough. When you vacuum your carpets you remove live and dead dust mites, and also their source of nourishment: dead skin.

    • Clean your bed linens often – in hot water – at least once a week.

    • Vacuum your kitchen and hard surface floors at least once a week.

Pricing

  • How do I know that I will not be charged more than the estimate?

We guarantee our quotes – NO hidden fees or charges, EVER!! As a boutique carpet cleaner, we have lower overhead than our competition and don’t pay for a large staff and office building. We do not charge extra for spots, stains, wool, Berber or heavily soiled areas. While those $99 whole-house deals our competitors might sound great at first, by the time they are done adding on for “unforeseen conditions,” you WILL end up paying more.

When comparing quotes, the only question you need to ask of other carpet cleaners is this, “Can I go ahead and write the check out for $99 before you get here?” Most likely, you will hear a few seconds of silence, and several minutes of stuttering. We are the only carpet cleaner without fine print in our pricing. The price we quote is the price you pay, period!
